Barbara Sallee-Kereszturi
Mayor

Dear Visitors!

As Mayor of the village of Hegymagas, in the Upper-Balaton region by the famous Saint Georg-hill, I would like to greet you on your virtual tour through our renewed web site.

Our community with 308 steady inhabitants and numerous seasonal guests and visitors offers not only ecological and cultural values and beauties but a 2000 years old wine producing tradition.

With most pride and humble respect toward our ancestors, who's work enriched this place, I dare to say, our village lays truly in one of Europe's most beautiful regions. The agriculturally used land, the orchards, wine and hunting regions, as well as the strongly protected areas of the Upper-Balaton National Park with it's remarkable geological sites, all here in our immediate neighborhood, inspired numerous poets and artists.

Only a few kilometers from the lake Balaton, the largest lake of Central Europe, visitors find close to nature and family friendly tourist attractions and offers. Lovers of wine and wine culture may join special wine tours. (In summer, upon request every Saturday.)

But also if you love music and dance, true folkloric values and high quality entertainment, you are invited to join our festivals, exhibitions and traditional happenings. Or join in in one of our professional and scientific conferences and forums, held in Hegymagas and on the Saint Georg-hill. Ask for accomondation options via E-mail.

If you are interested in sustainable regional development, in how to raise the interest and to involve the inhabitants and the youth into our Learning-region program (started in 2006), we 'd gladly inform you about the step by step development of a Hungarian village with rich tradition and true Hungarian guest-friendliness in an extraordinary beautiful rural region.

Sincerely,

Barbara Sallee-Kereszturi
